About Me

Born and raised in Hull, I was proud to graduate with honours from Leeds Medical School in 2008 as one of the top performing medical students of my year. I completed my ophthalmology training in Yorkshire where I was amongst the first of my trainee cohort to achieve the coveted CertLRS for refractive surgery, a testament to my ambition and determination to strive to be the best. 

 

To further my expertise I undertook a year of advanced sub-specialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at St James's University Teaching Hospital, one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals. My training has afforded me a wealth and depth of experience in precision eye care, and an uncompromising attitude towards the delivery of an outstanding patient experience. I always put my patients first.

I specialise in complex cataract surgery and intraocular lens work. I have performed over 7500 cataract operations, with visual outcomes surpassing the national standards cited by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

I have been a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon since 2017, throughout which time I  have worked in both Hull and York NHS teaching hospitals, where I was appointed cataract lead and managed the emergency eye care service. My experience has enabled me to become highly skilled in dealing with a wide range of eye problems.

I have been a microsurgical skills trainer since 2018 and teach regularly on courses run by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, helping to enhance the operating skills of both junior and experienced ophthalmologists.

 My hard work, integrity and professionalism have enabled me to establish a successful and continuously expanding private practice at the Spire hospital in Hull since 2018.

​

In November 2023 I joined the Optegra team in York, becoming accomplished in high volume cataract surgery. In February 2025 I was appointed The NHS Cataract Lead Consultant for Optegra and will be guiding the expansion of vision correction services in the North East.
