About Mr Naylor

Mr Steven Naylor MB ChB (Hons) FRCOphth CertLRS is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract and refractive surgery. He has been a consultant since 2017 and is the NHS Cataract Lead Consultant at Optegra UK. He is also a member of the advisory board for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) National Ophthalmology Database Cataract Audit.

Steven graduated with honours from Leeds Medical School in 2008 and completed his specialist ophthalmology training in Yorkshire. He undertook advanced subspecialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds.

His practice includes complex cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange and personalised intraocular lens selection, including monofocal, toric and extended depth of focus lenses. Treatment recommendations are tailored to each patient’s eye health, visual needs and lifestyle.

Steven sees patients at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital and Hesslewood Clinic, Optegra Eye Clinic York, Optegra Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham, Wetherby, and Optegra Newcastle Eye Clinic.

Teaching remains an important part of his work. He trains junior ophthalmologists on NHS cataract lists and teaches microsurgical skills on courses run by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
