I wanted to share my support for and increase awareness of the BALM project. Anxiety, stress and depression are common reasons for work absence within the NHS. Male NHS workers, whatever our role may be, are a recognised at-risk group because we often do not acknowledge that we need help with, or seek intervention for, our mental health. The BALM project aims to help male NHS workers by developing an early intervention programme to better equip men to manage workplace stress. The study is being carried out by the University of York and recruitment is currently open. You can find out more by emailing BALM-project@york.ac.uk.
